If you or someone you know stutters, here’s some expert guidance from a teacher.

As a former elementary school teacher, I can attest to the fact that there were indeed instances when I had a student who stuttered. I was resolved to provide any assistance I could with stuttering so that they could enjoy their time in school. What I did, and what I think you could do as a parent, is outlined below.

I would probably start by setting up a meeting with the parents to discuss the child’s speech disorder. There were two goals met at the meeting.

To begin with, hearing it from his parents, the two people who know him best, helped me gain a deeper understanding of the situation and their son. Second, I think the parents benefited from the meeting because I was able to assure them that their child would have my full support and that I was eager to offer assistance.

The teacher’s lack of interest in scheduling a conference does not indicate any lack of concern on their part. Many educators prefer to get to know their students on an individual basis before contacting parents. However, if the issue is critical, it is best to act immediately. Instead, arrange a meeting with the instructor over the phone.

Share what knowledge you have with the group. Because you are in a partnership, it is important that both of you have an understanding of successful and ineffective tactics. Parents are the best people to learn these things from.

For example, you might be surprised to find out that a lot of younger kids who stutter still enjoy participating in their classrooms by answering questions and taking part in discussions. The stuttering does not bother them or make them feel awkward.

Teachers would typically avoid calling on a student who stutters because they do not want to draw attention to them. Please inform your child’s instructor if he or she is comfortable participating.

It was a blessing that my school district had access to speech therapists. They are there to work with students who are referred by the teaching staff. Unfortunately, not all areas have access to this service just yet. Make sure you check with your school to see whether they provide speech services. If so, you should find out the procedure for initiating a referral.

Because I always made it a point to schedule a meeting with parents early in the school year, I could start a referral quickly if the youngster wasn’t already involved in a speech program outside of the school. If the child was in a speech program in the community, I got permission from the parents to request recommendations and reports from the outside agency.

One thing to be aware of is that community based services are quite often discontinued when a child enters school, if the school district offers the same service. Services at the school level are not always automatic, so you may need to request that your child continues to receive help.

Once your child starts to work with the speech pathologist or therapist, there will be certain drills or activities that you can use at home. This will reinforce what the speech personnel is focusing on in their sessions.
For instance, the therapist may be working with your child on a different way to breathe. This type of thing requires a lot of practice before it becomes automatic. That’s where you come in. It’s vitally important for you to work on these follow-up activities with your child because sessions at school will be limited.

If your child stutters, know that there is help with stuttering available at the school level. The best case scenario is when teachers and parents work together as a team to give the child encouragement and support.

The responsibilities of CNA include taking care of the regular day to day needs of the patient, like change of clothes, taking care of the diet, giving them a bath, taking to the toilet etc. People join this field not just to earn money, but becoming a certified nursing assistant also gives you that inner satisfaction and feeling which not many jobs are able to give you. CNA is becoming more and more popular in the medical industry by the day.

Different CNA training programs have different entry criteria in different areas. The government has introduced strict guidelines and requirements that need to be followed and fulfilled in order to join any such course. But even though the versatility of the area is vast, the basic training that is given everywhere is almost the same.

To join any such training course, you first need to complete your high level diploma. After doing that you are required to join any hospital or a community college which offers this course. Many hospitals also offer it for free but you have to complete a more demanding tenure in regard to time there. The community colleges normally offer CNA training programs the vary from six weeks to twelve weeks.

In the course of the training, the trainee is taught basic care needs, hygiene and making sure that all the fundamental requirements are being fulfilled. After completing the training program, the trainee is requires to pass a written and a practical exam to get his or her license and become a certified nursing assistant. CNA training programs normally cost between the ranges of $400 to $800. If for some reason you are not able to take regular offline classes, many online programs are also available which you can undertake.
